Okay, the first part is done. I think.
Hello and welcome to my Blog. The fact I actually have a blog and it is up and running (sort of) is a major achievement. Technology and I are not the best of bedfellows, and I have been pushed (albeit ever so gently and persistently), into the realms of which I am most uncomfortable. Please be patient as I try and work out the kinks.
So, who am I? My name is Alyson and I am a writer. Next revelation – no, I’m not published….. yet. But I’m working on it. At the moment, I’m working on an anthology with three wonderful people and we hope to publish this year. In fact you can read all about us in AMORINA ROSE (sorry, haven’t worked out the linking thing yet).
But before we delve any further into my writing, I wanted to share with you the meaning behind the title of my blog, Blue Ink on a Dragon’s Tail. Okay the first bit is soppy – Blue – for my husband’s eyes. Ink, as my favourite writing implement is a fountain pen. I love the flow of ink, it’s smooth and thick. Dragon’s Tail actually comes from my love of dragons. I collect them. The more the merrier. To me the Dragon symbolises hope. The very first Dragon I ever received was a white porcelain dragon with gold spikes on the tail. I had miscarried and my husband bought me the dragon to make me smile again. It feels right to have a dragon in the title of my blog as I’m hoping that if I am persistent (and with a little bit of luck) there is hope that one day I will become a published author, just as through persistence (and a lot of luck) we ended up having two lovely children.
Do dragons play a part in my writing? Yes, but probably not to extent you might expect, at least not yet anyway. I like to write gothic tales, paranormal and fantasy. I love weaving tales around immortal beings and creatures that can change shape at will. I find freedom in creating new worlds with a gothic touch.
Currently I have a vampire series consisting of 4 novels and 5 short stories I am in the process of rewriting and one fantasy (with dragons) in the rewrite stage and another book destined to be part of a fantasy series in the first draft stage. Not to mention various short stories crossing into all genres. (Keep an eye out for the anthology).
Well, time for me to go. A gal can’t reveal all her secrets in the first meeting…..
I look forward to getting to know you.
